Amazing story. In my opinion, this book is far and above the best of this series. A wonderful adventure.

I loved this book when I read it in elementary school! I liked how it went into the past, instead of being one chapter in another book!

Great prequel to the series. Made the history more interesting to me and provided a stronger connection to both Thomas and Roland.

It was all right. The story of Thomas and Roland when they were little. I liked the boys well enough. The writing style was good but the dialogue and story were lacking. I was rather bored while reading it. Overall though, a nice companion book to "The Land of Elyon" series.

This was a good book, I might have enjoyed it more if I had read the other "Land of Elyon" books.

First of all, this isn't a prequel to be read before the series. I couldn't remember, so that's what I did this time around. It fits better between books 3 and 4. But on to the substance. I like the way the story is told: as Roland telling Alexa about his childhood. I love making the connections between this book and his story and the other books. It's not quite as exciting as the others though. More thoughts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj89IE1ybWU
