The Ronan Scrolls is the perfect short story companion to [b:Flame|38939412|Flame (The Dragonmaster Trilogy, #1)|Katie Cross|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1520650717l/38939412._SX50_.jpg|60517666], [b:FLIGHT|45439583|FLIGHT (The Dragonmaster Trilogy Book 2)|Katie Cross|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1556819016l/45439583._SY75_.jpg|70195516], and upcoming FREEDOM by [a:Katie Cross|7940084|Katie Cross|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1394145347p2/7940084.jpg].

HOWEVER, more than that, it is bold and brilliant. If you haven't read any of the Dragonmasters Trilogy, don't worry. This could be your way in. Ronan, the plucky, bookish, main character bent on discovering the truth about his brother's mysterious illness, has one of the most heartwarming character arcs. No spoilers, but... wow. Stunning. He's adorable.

The discoveries made along Ronan's journey make this short story a must for any fan of The Dragonmasters Trilogy - I learned so much backstory about some of my favorite characters that I'm certain will come up in the finale, FREEDOM.

Lastly, if I haven't convinced you that you should pick up this YA fantasy series yet, it has magic. And dragons. And forests that feel like they're living and breathing. And characters for whom you'll want to do anything.
