I am really conflicted about reviewing this novella for other GoodReads readers but am doing so for a couple of reasons.

First, The Motel Whore by Paul Heatley is an extremely graphic book in the subject matter, descriptions, and writing. It is certainly not a book for everyone and again, be forewarned, the writing is graphic, explicit and disconcerting.

With that, the writing is also top-notch in its grit and descriptive power.

The novella details the day to day life of a prostitute in a seedy motel and of those she encounters, which includes those that seek her out for sexual encounters and other depraved denizens in the motel.

Apparently, there are additional novella companions that are to be read along with The Motel Whore, but until I read them, I give this novella three stars mainly because of the ending. or more apt, the lack of an ending, of the novella.

The other reason I chose to review this novella for GoodReads is that I was made aware of the writer Paul Heatley through a blog called Black Guys Do Read and hope other GoodReads visitors will visit this man's blog. He is a voracious reader and reviews a wide variety of crime/mystery/thriller reading materials on his blog. A large focus of his blog is that of noir-type reading. Please give it a look-see.
