I am destroyed. I have cried so many times throughout this book, it felt as though the author reached into my chest and grabbed my heart and SQUEEZED. As though she was reading my past, and putting pen to paper. Please read at your own discretion, but seriously 5/5 stars for how emotionally gripping this was.

I felt like the plot was too lacking and it didn't make it feel worth it to read all the dark content.

This was a difficult read, but the subject matter is so important. Heartbreaking, infuriating, and exceptionally well written. Check your triggers first, grooming and child SA throughout, as well as gaslighting. You should still read it.

I had been reading fiction for a while. Mostly fantasy, horror, and suspense. While reading A Storm of Swords I told myself " I really need something different right now." For whatever reason this book popped in my head from past YouTube videos I've watched. I remember watching said videos and not being blown away by the synopsis of the book. It just sounded like something interesting but nothing that stood out amongst the books I had been hearing about at the time. Anyhow, I just decided to go buy this book. It was if it were a calling.
Now about two weeks later I'm writing this review, oh man was this a trip. I'm sure you've read numerous reviews already so I'm not gonna recap this book's main points. All I want to say is I am so happy that Kate Elizabeth Russell closed this novel as she did. Vanessa is finally content with her life, she has come to peace with what had happened. She thinks of Strane still but it's not like a wave of emotions that come with that thought as before. She is finally moving on and with how far she's come I am so sad that as reader I must move on too.
