Fun middle grade book with a clever, resourceful heroine. My 10-year-old self would have loved it.

Tuesdays at the Castle was one of my favorite books growing up, and having recently discovered it was the first book in a series, I decided to read it again as an adult. It was just as fun and adventurous as it was as a child. It's a fast-paced adventure of a little girl who loves her castle and her family very much.

Celie and her siblings live at Castle Glower, which is somewhat of living entity. The castle grows and changes depending on its mood and perceptions of its inhabitants. As other reviewers mentioned, the idea of a setting that is also a character is very unique. I liked how the characters were able to infer what happened to their parents based on changes (or lack thereof) in the castle's structure. Very cleverly done. I would recommend this book to young readers (gr. 4-5) who enjoy medieval settings and fantasy.

I love this book. This was my second time reading it, but it's been awhile so I'd forgotten most of what happens. The writing style is great. And I quickly became invested in the characters and the castle. This is a fun read with lots of twists and turns. I look forward to reading the next book!
