I thought this book was a great read! It was a little sappy and predictable at times but I totally loved it. I definitely teared up a few times and loved how it ended. Can’t wait to see this in a movie! TJR is an amazing writer who always keeps me engaged.

I think ultimately I liked this book, 3 stars because by the end I didn’t find myself really rooting for one side or the other, I was left with a lingering feeling of something being wrong but maybe that’s part of the experience. it’s one thing to know that we have multiple lives inside of us, multiple paths to take, and yet another entirely to be confronted with both of those simultaneously and so strongly. I loved Sam as a person and felt like he was incredibly understanding and kind no matter what happened he was a rock. Some things Jesse did bugged me from the beginning and felt aggressive but that could have been him trying to cope also. Some of the dialog read the same to be and the characters didn’t seem very distinguished.

Ultimately, this book is just incredibly emotionally complex and that’s what makes it so good. Halfway through the book and I felt like I could love either person. I really liked the message at the end and felt like it fit with the story. But, I did feel like the story was just one long way to get to that last page rather than the other way around and the last page complementing the story.

This book made me sob! It’s so easy to imagine yourself in this situation and how you’d feel if it were happening to you. I don’t want to say too much but I would say the bottom line for this book is that life must go on and accepting that people grow and change. It’s amazing what loving someone can do to a person and for a person.
