This was an unexpected suspense!
The characters, the mother/daughter relationship, the them of revenge...
I raced through it to find out what happens- and loved the “BAM” 3/4 of the way through!

This was a good, quick read, if not a little predictable. i feel like i guessed the ‘twist’ way before it came about.

This is a twisted book. I was not a big fan and almost decided to not finish. However, I did finish and it still was just weird.

Wow! This book kept you on your toes for sure - I did not know where it was going even when I thought I did I was totally wrong.

Good little thrills. Felt short and not full perhaps? Many times I thought "there should be more here about this." Simply written, I thought it was maybe YA but apparently not. Just a lot of telling, very little showing. Made me sick to my stomach to read about how Patty thought about children, her voice was mostly straightforward but sometimes sinister. Many things that made me go "oh yikes." And that reveal! Rose Gold's sections were a bit exposition heavy but still interesting. Two unlikable protagonists, no winners really, and overall kind of icky but maybe not in the fun way.
The story is also ripped from the headlines to a degree that I don't really like.

Dark and twisted. Rose Gold and Patty have complicated relationships with each other and those around her but as I read I had hope for Rose Gold. After all she was a victim...right? Rose Gold's twist is not much of a surprise but still found myself wishing it was not happening. I wanted Rose Gold to change her mind or at least attempt to mend broken relationships with other characters. But then again, Rose Gold never had a chance to learn about healthy relationships. For 18 years she knew only a mother's twisted love. I give this book 4.5 starts because of the explorations of both character's complicated and dark views of the world. But still selfishly wished a better ending for Rose Gold.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Holy... this is the closest I have personally felt a book come close to "Gone Girl" since "Gone Girl".

This book was really good. My issue with it is the flipping time lines... I understand they are necessary for the story, and the chapters are short, but I would've liked to see more of current day Rose Gold to learn more about her in a more current sense.

I loved the reveal towards the end of the novel and I personally did not see it coming.

I cannot wait for everyone to read this one. Strongly recommend!
