What happens when aliens invade Viking Europe? Blood, guts, swearing, violence, vengeance, friendship, reluctant kings, resourceful princesses, mouthy peasant girls, barbarian rabbits, mind control, neon swords and fun. Lots of fun. The art work is gorgeous, the colours are vibrant, the characters are fantastic. More please!

Vikings V. Aliens.

I just read this:

"Viking teeth were often subject to a great deal of wear, which is largely attributed to their diet. Study of the skeletal remains of Vikings has also shown evidence that they suffered from periodontal disease and tartar buildup."

Really? Periodontal disease AND tartar buildup? What an amazing discovery.

Why are people studying things like this? Are we thinking the vikings will have known something about dental care that we don't?

I mean, in a way, they DID solve a lot of dental issues by dying before they turned 50. If you're dead, you don't need great teeth.

I loved this story so much. The Characters are lively and loveable (or hateable) and the idea of vikings being invaded by aliens is just great, and definitely a breath of fresh air from the "modern day alien invasions" because those are so boring. But vikings? awesome.
The character dynamics in this book are wonderful and you form such an attachment to them very quickly. The aliens are unique and creatively designed. The art style is one that makes itself really stand out, it's different from any I've seen before and really just sets it out. I highly recommend picking this up and giving it a try.
I was lucky enough to meet two of the creators of The Spider King, and they were so nice and funny. And I love the dynamic between the creators themselves, being from all around the world and still working together to create this awesome story and some amazing art.

It's the Vikings era, and aliens just crash landed on earth! How can any fantasy nerd not get excited over this premise? I did, and I was not disappointing. The story was executed really well. It is not a story that takes itself too seriously (because honestly, it will make no sense if it did. Vikings can never beat aliens that learned how to space travel). So there's a side of humor added to make this work, and its addition really complimented the style they went for with the art, it came out brilliantly!

Awesome art style. Fun story. I came for the Vikings, I stayed for Frodi's facial expressions.

Violent, Lite Scifi

Fun and a quick read, the art and colors do lots of heavy lifting with the occasionally sparse dialogue adding the punch to this tale filled with gore and driven by vengeance.

My only complaint would be that it was too short :(
