I haven't read a fantasy book for a long time and I was so excited to read Among the Beasts Briars. I really enjoyed the detailed world building it was so magical and interesting. The characters were adorable and the epic quest to find the Lady of the Wilds was exciting, but I kind of wanted a little more. I just felt something was missing.

For me I found that the twists in this book were too predictable and too obvious. Overall, Among the Beasts and Briars was magical and adventurous and the romance was adorable.

I really really enjoyed the extra scenes of Petra / Wen and Seren at the end of the book, so I'm excited to find out whether there will be a sequel.

This book reminds me of those old Disney fairytales. With princes and unexpecting maidens who couldn't possibly believe they were meant for anything but a boring life. So much so that the author wants to bang the fact over your head any chance you get. That aside, it's an okay story. Something you might read once, get that sense of wonder, and then reminisce about how it was better than it actually was. There's isn't much there, the story is very hallow and lacks any depth, but it is very much just a typical storybook fairytale.
