A relaxing pace, unique narration, and balance of adventure, suspense, and reflection successfully provide the reader with an enjoyable, eye-opening reading experience. I got caught up in Christopher's world and experiencing life (realizing how "ordinary" experiences can be terrifying to him) as he does. Excellent use of 1st personal perspective to accurately depict how Christopher thinks: logical, precise descriptions, heading chapters with prime numbers... :)

What I especially like about this book is the dual mindset of the reader: on the one hand, interpreting and reacting to people and situations literally and logically through Christopher's eyes, while on the other, reading between the lines and wondering about the subtle hints (tone, body language, social conventions) that he misses. Another quality: the book naturally evokes wonder; while highly intelligent in some areas with a capacity to appreciate a variety of ordinary, but in actual fact, very interesting things, he misses out on many other experiences because he cannot understand them (expressing affection through touch, getting to know people's characters, the exciting of visiting other places).

[4/5] (read this for school)

i went into this without even reading the back cover, so i had no idea what was going on. about 50 pages in though, it was fine. the writing style is immersive and interesting, and i liked that it wasn't over-the-top like some books academically assigned are.
