Short and funny. Another great recommendation for a hesitant chapter-book reader. Translated from French.

Very charming book. My mother, who just started her new job as an elementary school librarian about a month ago, brought this home the other day, and when I saw the cover, I was immediately intrigued.

The "message" that the teacher had to give at the end brought the score up from 3 stars to 4 stars. I was wondering the whole time if he would reward the students who kept their coupons or those who spent theirs, and the way it was done was quite inspiring.

However, I HATED the way the principle was written in such a negative portrayal of a female stereotype. It reminded me of Frindle, and how well that was handled.

Still, though, at the end I said to my Mom, "Why couldn't this book have come out when I was a kid?" Checked the date - it was published in 2001, so I guess our library just didn't get it in. And that is really the best recommendation a book could have.
