If you like Addonizio's poems or drinking and whoring and then trying to make some sense about this, you'll like this. The parts about her mother were touching.

Hilarious look a the life of a working poet. Zippy, fun, and sad, all at once. A great trip.

There were moments where I guffawed, and then there were moments when I drew a small teardrop in the margins of the page to mark where Kim made me cry.

Uncontrived. She writes with grace and grit alike. I've been a long-time fan of Addonizio's poetry, and so was very pleased to find that her personal essays are just as evocative.

Kim Addonizio is a force to be reckoned with and absolutely wonderful to read. I sat in a quiet, less than sanitary lunchroom roaring in laughter at some of her reflections on life and at other times my heart completely broke. I found myself nodding to a lot of the things she had to say (and wrote down others to look up later...Bukowski as one of them). This is the kind of book I would tote in my bag along with me, like a friend in the form of a book to keep me company and send me reflecting on life as it is. I'll be picking this up and thumbing through it in years to come.

I had exceptionally high expectations for Addonizio's memoir given my remarkable esteem for her oeuvre. This book met those expectations.

Absolutely lovely. Her honesty hit me hard and I found her stories relatable, humorous, and at times, all too comfortably true. I'm really looking forward to reading more of her work, especially her poetry, as the way she writes has a gorgeous flow that I'm sure is reflected in her poetic form.
