I definitely know more about Jewish Mythology right now. How much of it I retain will be a whole other question... I enjoyed the author note at the end of the story just as much as I enjoyed the story. In the end, the author broke everything down into simple terms so that even someone as myself, who knows nothing of Jewish Mythology, could understand.
In the actual story, Satan is tired of mean people and releases a huge monster into the world. I know it's fiction, but there's many underlying religious themes

Blood & Mud is mostly told in the POV of Satan, and it's effective in making you feel for him. You will lament all of human kind's dumb-assery and also be given hope that maybe we're not all bad. If you're interested in reading about Jewish mysticism, kaiju and archangels kicking ass, along with a story that has deep commentary on the social justice issues happening right now, please please read this book! You will not be disappointed: you'll learn something and be thoroughly entertained.
