Violette is part of a family working at a circus during the time of Toulouse-Latrec. They are currently in Paris and Violette has been going to school during their time in the city.
The book is a surreal and bright display of color and sheer joy. This was a lot of fun to read with fantastic characters of the circus and the city dazzles on these pages. Everything is alive with energy and zest here. It's a place you want to jump in the pages and visit.
I think this is a great new edition to middle grade graphic novels.

A beautiful story with gorgeous illustrations, it tells the tale of Violette whose mother and father both work at a circus. Violette loves her life in the Cirque de la Lune but sometimes wishes that her life is "normal" until she meets a painter who teaches her to appreciate and love all the people and things that make her life beautiful and unique. This is a wonderful book for readers of all ages.
