3.5 with the potential to be a 4 stars if I was in a better mood.
I had a hard time hiking through all of these. They were excellent short stories, but I personally am a fan of more pulpy short fiction. Action heroes, are plot driven, and while some satisfied this, some were just wordy and artsy and nice... but not phenomenal or special or OMG AmAzing

Hellbound Hearts is an anthology of some of the best new authors to grace the horror world today. Each of the various stories featured in this anthology share a common goal...they bring the familiar feel and goriness that won over many fans of "Pinhead" in the HellRaiser franchise. Beware things that go bump in the night as these stories will give you nightmares and just may make you scream for more!

With this anthology, I got to experience many new authors and some old ones as well. While I enjoyed most of these stories, there were some that I either skimmed over or didn't read at all. I do have to say that after reading this anthology, I didn't realize just how twisted a mind these authors had. Horror fans will like this book. Pick and choose the stories you want to read or read them all. It doesn't matter as you Hellbound Hearts will have your heart racing out of sheer terror.

So this was a stupendous selection of fiction revolving around the mythos of the Cenobites and Lament configurations and whatnot. I'll admit I skipped a story or two throughout but that wasn't because they were bad, just outside the realm of my interest, but the rest of them were as oddly engrossing as the puzzle boxes that feature so prominently inside. I loved the way that different authors attacked the cenobites, their descriptions as varied as I would've thought possible and the situations in which they arose as interesting as those that befell the victims in the movies that predated this. Splendid.

“We have such sights to show you..”

Hellbound Hearts is edited by Paul Kane and Marie O’Regan. It’s an anthology based on the infamous Hellraiser/Hellbound Heart mythos. This anthology contains several imaginative stories that will feed your need for some more evil from the Cenobites you know so well.

What is great about this collection is that although they all contain some aspect of the Hellraiser story, they each deliver on darkly twisted horror which will disturb you with gore and morbid writing. Some of these go to the very core of the mythos where others touch upon it. A few of the stories included are:

The Confessor’s Tale by Sarah Pinborough

Hellbound Hollywood by Mick Garris

Mechanisms by Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola

The Collector by Kelley Armstrong

Bulimia by Richard Christian Matheson

Wordsworth by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean

Mother’s Ruin by Mark Morris

Sister Cilice by Barbie Wilde

There are a lot more stories featured including an introduction by Stephen Jones, a foreword by Clive Barker and an afterword by Doug Bradley.

I did enjoy this anthology and I think fans of Clive Barker would too.

I know I'm probably that one person who didn't know what they were getting into, but I was not expecting that much erotica.
