This is the cozy punk-rock vampire story you never thought you needed. This story is more about family and relationships than anything. Louise and Ian are great characters and their story is wonderful. The word building is a little lackluster and when this book takes a departure briefly to “vampire politics” the books really lost me. This section seemed unnecessary to the story being told. I loved Chen’s writing and will definitely check out more in the future.

really liked it if you're looking for a punk rock adventure in a vampire life.

Definitely an interesting take on modern vampires. And a love letter to music, especially punk rock. It was enjoyable for the most part. Would have loved more flashbacks to Louise’s early vampire days and years though.

Mike Chen creates compelling characters, places them in extraordinary circumstances, and creates stories that linger in the spaces of the heart reserved for satisfactory reading experiences. Vampire Weekend was no exception.

This was a pretty fun twist on a vampire book.

While I did enjoy it, I did wish that it was just a little darker. When you think punk rock and vampire, you think of something a bit grungier with a darker undertone. I wanted more PUNK instead of the almost "bubble gum" punk we get here.

The story was good though and I'd definitely check out more from this author.

*Thanks netgalley and publisher for a gifted copy.

This book is kind of like a Bay Area vampire's punk rock memoir, with some good and bad (including homophobic) family mixed in. A sweet book.
