I enjoyed the characters and the premise, but there were too many moments that felt unnecessarily contrived, that went against how the characters would actually act, and obstacle created unnecessarily. I enjoyed it but also was more angry at it than a regency romance should experience. I liked the first two in the series much more, so will try again with #4.

Rafe is and both is not a total playboy. I men yes he loves women, but women really love him. And he can not say no! So it has come to that point where he is all, omg can't they just find someone else to hunt! Seriously man, learn to say no! ;) But he is also the kind of hero you just have to love, he really is the most charming man in London.

While Colette took some getting used to, because she is a spy for the French. It is a bit hard to like her then. But she is a really good person. She loves her dad and would do anything for him. She is also a really crappy spy. Not to mention she is shy. It was all very amusing.

And it was interesting to see how the well known bachelor would fall and fight against it. Not to mention how they would deal with this whole mess! She is still a spy. Her dad is still an assassin. But, without saying too much, I enjoyed how it was dealt with.

It was also great seeing the men from book 1 and 2. I really like this group of survivors. And I can not wait to get their books (omg the blurb for the next one is not up and I am all eeeeek!).

A fun book with some suspense, passion and friendship.

Narration

I enjoy Victoria Aston's voice and she fits historical romance so well! All her voices work,

I'm going to give this book favorite status based on the many bookmarks I made while listening to it. I super enjoyed the humorous side of Rafe having to chase Collette and the spice level was just right. Lots of sweet moments and even the fights they had gave me the feels so I'm going to give it the full 5 stars.

Witty, clever and charming.

This is the third installment in the author's Survivor series. I haven't read the previous books in this series but on reading this I believe each one can be treated as a standalone.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and ARC in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I was really into this book until a little over the halfway mark. You could say I was over it when Rafe and Collette had sex for the first time. And then I was really over it when I realized she wasn't that great a spy to begin with. After her feelings were involved she gave up all her information to Rafe very easily and then it just went down hill from there. I didn't even finish the book, I maybe had ten pages left. Maybe if she were a better spy I could like it.

The seducer has met his match and jumped without a thought into the flames. I couldn't put it down from the start wondering what would happen between them and when. They both had reasons for avoiding each other, but to everyone else, they were stupid to try. I was on the edge of my seat when they came up with their plan. At every turn, they were met with a fight and sometimes a friend, but it was always a surprise. I wanted to scream when he went back to London, but the talk he had with his stepmother and other were so worth it. The ending was perfect especially with what she made him do. I hope to see them again and Grimes was an interesting man.

Collette will do anything to save her father even shielding her heart. I loved her right away because she tried so hard to find what she needed and wouldn't give up. She let fear and her mission blind, but not completely.

Rafe always wanted the exciting mission he just didn't realize this one would turn into one. He will break your heart with his reason for not wanting to marry and win you over with his charm and kindness. I loved that he was willing to do anything to help.

I can't wait for the next story!

I was definitely surprised by the ending of this one. Has Rafe Beaumont met his match? Can he discuss the mating habits of hedgehogs 🦔? You have to read this third installment to find out. It’s worth it. It’s not quite my favorite as the first two, but hedgehogs...be still my heart.

I was genuinely confused about how this one was going to end and as far as these things go, it paid off.
