“They have no imagination. No fire in their minds. So they try to limit the world to the paltry things they can understand, but the world cannot be limited. The world is infinite! And you, young as you are, already know that.”

Haunting, mysterious, smart, and a good touch of humor. It felt like reading a book from my childhood. It doesn't pander to the younger audience for which it's intended, but treats them as fully capable of enjoying and understanding the story. Absolutely great!

I’ve read 62 books this year and this one is my absolute favourite.

Weirdly pretentious, and the way the challenging words were introduced felt annoyingly pedantic (plenty of middle grade novels manage to use complex diction without coming across as so condescending).
I couldn't connect with the MC and couldn't figure out why the title is "Pony" when there is no authentic connection between Silas and Pony. Even Mittenwool seemed vague and underdeveloped. It was fine, but just seemed like Palacio was holding everything at arms length.
