This book is amazing, but it is not very accessible considering how dense it is.

strangely passive and obviously deeply colonialist and racist but I do vaguely see why it has stayed on the list of books English classes teach. There's something about the descriptions that are horrible and visceral like nothing I've ever seen before.

I'm glad I had to read it for this class and now I hope to never think about it again.
