I enjoyed this, a neat fantasy story with Maori elements. The thing that was most notable was the narrator. I described the highly personable, conversational style of the narrator to alike that of a storyteller at a fireplace. This has both its positives and negatives, it’s definitely a fun vibe but also it can get tiresome, distract from the story and be too cutesy. However, definitely an enjoyable read
