I absolutely loved the new Young Avengers series, so I really wanted to go back right to the beginning of the YA story and start with the first story!

I didn't know what to expect with this but I really enjoyed it! It's a different set of Young Avengers than I'm used to - Eli Bradley, Cassie Lang, Iron Lad and Vision are there instead of America Chavez, David Allayne and Noh-Varr, so it was interesting to see a slightly different dynamic. It also made the start of YA 2014 make a lot more sense, so that was great!

Both Vol 1 and Vol 2 both had really interesting stories, seeing everyone's back stories in Vol 2 was great, especially Teddy and Eli! I think overall I preferred the arc of Vol 1 to Vol 2, but only by a little bit, they were both really great!

I'm excited to carry on with all the YA arcs - going into their Civil War run next, then onto YA Presents and see where I go from there!

This was so amazingly good oh my gosh. The introduction to Tommy, the backstory for each member of the YA, the tie-ins to bigger stories that didn't feel unnecessary but rather fluid and perfect for the story? Immaculate!!

This volume is a strong continuation from the first installment and I absolutely loved reading it. We get a lot more thorough backstory for several of the characters, as well as learn more about how exactly they're connected to the original Avengers. I loved getting to learn more about them and can't help but agree with Jessica Jones--I want to be one of them. This is a strong cast--this volume in a lot of ways is more about the individual characters versus a larger plot adversary (Skrull/Kree threat notwithstanding). Excellent.

For: fans of superheroes/comics; readers wanting an original storyline that they can keep up with; readers wanting younger heroes to follow (they're from 14-16 here).

Possible red flags: characters in peril; violence; language; blood; death; drugs and drug use; sexual assault; coming out (as superheroes and as LGBTQ); references to experimentation/torture; juvie/imprisonment; revelations about true parentage.
