I really wanted to rate this one higher but I’m so unhappy with the ending!! It just left me feeling empty.. but I love Lisa Jewell’s work. She writes beautifully and with so much detail making you feel as if you’re right there living alongside every character. I just wish it would’ve ended differently.

Not my favorite by Lisa Jewell, but a very quick read. The ending was abrupt and the suspense was mild but overall the pace was consistent.

This book opened up with a big scene and then the story began about a month or two before the incident took place. The characters were pretty unique and different which kind of kept me pulled in to continue reading. It was certainly a slow burn but I felt the pacing was done well. Seeing the dynamic amongst the adults and then the dynamics between the children were so odd I was interested to see why things were they way they were and how they’d play out. I do think the big reveal of who caused the incident and what happened was a bit anticlimactic. And the ending was pretty resolved but also unresolved. However, I felt that did made sense for the type of person the adults were in this book. The book was good just not great but I definitely would like to read more of this author’s work because I enjoyed their writing/storytelling skills!
