I honestly could not wait for this book to be over.
After reading the review, I thought this was going to be a lighthearted novel about a young, overworked professional who got herself fired and then moved back home to find herself. I was expecting a “finding yourself” novel, but certainly did not think it was going to be centered around her becoming a surrogate for her sister.
There were many parts of this book that just felt unnecessary and frankly boring. Whole paragraphs consisted of naming things about building, daily activities, foods, etc that did not move the plot forward. Looking back I think I could have skipped whole pages and still gotten the point.
This book also had a few plot points that just went nowhere. I thought the April story was going to be a lot more meaningful, but it felt like it was interjected just to fill pages.
Finally, I hate that the main character finally felt happy when...wait for it...she found a man. Nevermind that she ha done a great thing for her sister, Forged a great relationship with her new stepmother, helped the model that, let’s face it, she helped to put in rehab, and found a meaningful job. No, the final chapter explains that her happiness was complete when her and Everett got together. Yuck.

Not my favorite Katherine Center book, but a decent read nonetheless. Could’ve gone deeper in some places but was heartwarming in others. Don’t know why the library wait was so long for this one.

3 and a half
I like Katherine Center's stories. I just didn't buy into this one. The things that rose up as "problems" during one sister's pregnancy with twins just didn't line up with reality in my experience, but I suppose it is possible and the love interest part was even less than the development in a Hallmark movie--didn't buy that either. Nevertheless it was still fun enough and proof that Center has improved with time Ince this is (I think) 20 years old.
