For the most part, the stories themselve were entertaining. I could quite easily see them being episodes of BTVS, especially the third one, it would make for an interesting arc across half a season or so. Unfortunately, the writing wasn't so great. The first story read like a bad fan fiction. There was way too much exposition and descriptors for 90% of the speech, it was almost unbearable. Some chapters were only 2 pages long in the midst of the action, instead of building suspense, it made for disjointed, frustrating reading.

All three stories were a fun read, but the writing in the first two stories wasn't well crafted. The third, however, was an entertaining romp through time... Better written and in the spirit of the show.

I was intimidated with this kinda chunky edition of 3-in-1 books centered around the first two seasons timeline because it had nearly 700 pages and it has been a while since I tried anything Buffy related. I did not want to risk not liking this book since I have fond memories of liking these stories and characters.
The general rating of three stars is due to the first story Coyote Moon being more or less average for me, the second story Night of the Living Rerun was a little underwhelming and the last story Portal Trough Time was much better than expected and I enjoyed it the most.

3 different buffy stories by 3 different authors
Coyote Moon was 3 🌟
Had original character feels, but was written separately from the show. Uses Indigenous Lore of Skinwalkers as the villans.
Night of the Living ReRun was also 3 🌟. Buffy and friends are reincarnations of the slayer during the salem lot trials and are reliving the events in modern time. Over used story/plot
Portal though Time 4 🌟
Alot longer but time travel buffy was awesome
Went to 4 different time periods, met 4 different past slayers. Got to be very slow at points. The best parts were during the 2 slayers meeting.

I picked three omnibus books of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for cheap at Indigo years ago. I lost them among my TBR and finally refound them this year. I decided it was time to tackle these monsters...

Book #1: Coyote Moon is an absolute hoot and the highlight of this collection. It's a fun circus/carnival themed book that will have you on the edge of your seats. It was a solid 4/5 and I need more with that kind of engaging fun.

Book #2: Night of the Living Rerun focuses on the Salem Witch Trials being "relived" through our lead characters. It's a unique spin on a tale that's been told many times and it was a solid 3/5 that I think Buffy fans will really get a kick out of.

Book #3: Portal Through Time is the odd man out in this series. It's slow, it's awkward, and it doesn't fit with the pace and writing style of the other two books. It being last made me feel like I was dragging my feet through this book. They really needed a different style of book to end this omnibus since the first two were really fun and fast paced reads. Not my thing, so 1/5.

Overall, great collection! I'm sure Buffy fans will enjoy them.

Three out of five stars.
