Used the r slur on the fourth page and didn’t portray the people/kids with disabilities in a way I felt confortable reading about. It also seemed to stereotype a lot especially considering how little I got into the book.

Lots of disability representation and Own Voice author. Still had this on my list from last year's Storygraph genre challenge and this is set in Chicago. Nice read.

can’t rate it fairly because i never finished it properly but i was studying this book for the disability unit of a literature module and really loved the accessibility and several perspectives from the characters as a literary device.the ending scene with Mia made me a bit sad but also slightly relieved.

This is is a terrific book. Susan Nussbaum has an amazing ear for capturing voices. There are an array of characters, each uniquely distinct and genuine. The book is sad and funny, disturbing and uplifting.

had its issues but really compelling throughout, especially that last teddy chapter and all of yessie's voice in general. did sometimes wish someone would yell at joanne that not everything is about theory, but I digress. cheers to yessie for that classic closeted obsession with gay people. been there, girl. good luck.
