The ending made up for the rest of the book (kinda but not really).

I felt the phasing was now more sustained and actually encourages me to keep going into reading. The way how the prophecy was unwrapped not on face value was a lovely feature that was unique from previous instalments but suited the events in this series.
My baby Frank oh my god I feel like he may be actually my favourite character now???? Deadass I was almost crying when Hazel started crying beside Frank in the medical tent. And now they're the power couple preators of New Rome <3 To think these two were unrecognised demigods on book 2 (Son of Neptune) of Heroes of Olympus!!
Dear Apollo, you just get better and better with the character development! Thank God his development was actually more entertaining and heartfelt compared to last time. I really like how profound his regret and grief was portrayed with the deaths of the Sybil and Harpocrates, and with the supposed death of Frank.
But the reason why I can't say Frank is my #1 favourite is because of Meg????? She is such a huge darling in this book. Her friendship with Lavinia is so wholesome. Her enthusiasm from taking care of the unicorns when she first settled in Camp Jupiter until her leading them during the war. Her seemingly getting along with the rest of the demigods despite being an outsider from Camp Half-Blood. And how she was given special seeds by children of Ceres, her Roman siblings technically???? Adorable!
I also want to appreciate Riordan writing a Russian character that is Jewish. Like yes 100% for representation!!!
At the start, I felt forced to finish this book for the sake of being able to return books 1-4 before returning it to the library 2 days from now. But I did honestly enjoyed reading it during the middle which was a miracle in itself. I think I'm overcoming my reading slump now!
Lowkey disappointed that Camp Half-Blood reinforcements didn't show up during the war. But I guess this book needs to focus on Camp Jupiter just because the former had their big moment during the first book LOL. Now I'm looking forward to see Camp Half-Blood once again on the last book!
