A book that has stayed with me from childhood to adulthood, explores themes of life and death through a child's eyes and raises moral questions in an approachable way. A story that holds up better than most.

Read to read along w/ my 7th grader who had it for homework. It was short, and sweet, and gives you things to think about without hitting you over the head with it too too hard... and he found it a little slow.

There aren’t many books that I wouldn’t give five stars to, but this one really hit in a different way that I feel not a whole lot of other books that I’ve read have. It has such a sad beauty in my opinion, and it’s a short read, which one could say represents how life is short. And because it’s short, and it makes me emotional, I don’t think I’ll ever want to pick it up again. But that’s the great thing about some stories. You don’t need to pick them up again to remember them.
