I was just in the Chianti region doing a bike tour and it was the guide who quoted much of this book and then made reference to it. I actually read the book while I was still in Italy and found it quite funny and entertaining. I am not certain I would have enjoyed it as much if I wasn't familiar with Florence and the Chianti region and had just spent time there however the stories of over the top American tourists was worth the fun read!

It is a fine book. Recollections of a travel guide. Just nothing amazing about it. Cute little stories that made me miss Italy and hungry for pasta.

I enjoyed reading this native's perspective on Tuscany with humorous tales of his tours and his descriptions of the countryside and the food have me really wanting to go to Italy.
