I hate when book series end. As a Cassandra Clare fan, this was of course a stunning book. Not only was the character growth insanely well written, and the magic was off the charts, she left the door open for more. How she does it, I have no idea, but it is genius work. I will miss these characters, but I am excited to see what Cassandra does next.

It’s been such a beautiful journey being back in the shadowhunter world again. I swear I didn’t feel as connected to these characters in book 1 & 2 and book 3 just had me in absolute love. The character development and stunnning relationships is something Cassandra Clare just excels at.

Jesse & Grace & Alastair really stole the show for me. Like I said certain character developments were beautiful. The Merry Thieves felt really disconnected due to some secrets at the first half and then we were all together and thriving and it was amazing. Cordelia & Lucie were really going through it. But by the end they worked it all out and knew they could rely on each other and did. Their journey was especially a lovely one.

The little snippets of the parents, our cast from TID. Especially Will & Tessa being so understanding of Jesse and making him feel welcome.

I’m sure I cried a good few times, out so sorrow and heartache for these characters. The plot especially in the last half was better. It was definitely giving me flashbacks of TMI & TDA especially. That little convo at the end from a certain warlock….

Overall, I’m sad to see these characters go. Happy to see them happy and content after everything they have been through. Upset that we won’t be getting another spin off this of this trilogy featuring their children. But this just makes me look forward to TWP.

25/02/23: as I’ve sat on the book for a while now there are some things I want to mention. This CC book just felt a bit different in terms of writing style and enjoyability. It definitely hit but didn’t have that impact I was expecting from a CC finale. I hasn’t noticed how long it actually has been since book 2s publication. And looking back I wouldn’t say this is my fav book of the 3. It felt a lot longer than it needed to be as well.

I gave the first two books five stars but this one just did not get me as excited as the other two. I just think it could’ve done better. But I have to give it a four because I love these characters so much
