I finally realized who Audrey Rose and Thomas remind me of, Tessa and Will from the Clockwork Princess Series. Both are set in a similar time and in London, but also just their personalities. Strong female character with a witty and sarcastic guy. I did not read it quite as quickly as the first one, but the story I think was slightly better in this one. Thomas Cresswell really is the standard for a feminist. He's respects her autonomy but is still a gentleman. It's deeply unfair that he's fictional and only has eyes for Audrey Rose. Again, would recommend if you want a cross of Good Girl's Guide to Murder and the Clockwork Princess series! Fun and easy read!

So when I saw the title of this one, my interest was definitely piqued. Even with just one book establishing the series, I knew this was very much grounded in science and not fantasy. With Dracula in the title, I was curious to know what was going to happen on Audrey Rose and Thomas’s adventure to Romania.
What I really liked in this book was the realistic state of Audrey Rose’s emotions. She went through a lot at the end of the last book, and Hunting Prince Dracula picks up only a few weeks afterwards, so it makes sense that she’s not over some of the trauma she went through. And I started to understand why I’ve seen so many readers swoon over Thomas Cresswell. I don’t think I’m a full convert yet, but after reading more of the interactions between him and Audrey Rose, I can conclude that they are adorable together. There were also still some wonderful feminist tones, especially in regards to Audrey Rose’s autonomy in a relationship, and reading about struggling with the right balance was well done.
However, there were similar issues for me with some of the pacing. Especially towards the end, the challenges that Audrey Rose and Thomas went through seemed really long winded for me, and in my opinion, didn’t really add to the plot in any way. I started to lose interest towards the end, which I thought was a little unfortunate as far as conclusions go.
Overall, I thought it was a fun take on the Dracula legend and it was exciting to learn more about Thomas’s background in this book as well. I’m interested to see how the rest of the series plays out.

This book was slightly better than the first, but not enough to get it a higher rating or convince me to continue with the series. This was slow, repetitive, and followed many structural parallels to the first book (which made it feel formulaic.) I'm just not into these characters or this series. Thank goodness for audiobooks, or I don't think I would have been able to finish. I will not be continuing on with the series.

Trigger warnings for: blood, death
Rep for: meh.
