This was the sequel to A Song of Wraiths and Ruin which I loved. I didn’t love this one. Our hero and heroine lead separate lives, and the chapters swap POVs between them as in book 1. But this felt like an editor didn’t do his or her job, and the book lagged, bogged down with side stories that didn’t always progress the plot, but added a lot of volume. And while on the one hand things lagged, on the other hand there were pacey action scenes that left me with moment going: wait, what? As it felt like the author left out critical details necessary for the reader to follow along. In the end, the characters were compelling, and I still liked the world, so I give it three stars. But I was disappointed.

Definitely recommend this series as it combined serious topics into fantasy worlds that was truly well done and quite frankly refreshing.

However, plot/pacing was too slow for how incredibly long this book was. So many details were unnecessary (imo) as it seemed to be more world building even though this was the final book (confusing!). The ending was a little underwhelming for the build up.

I really enjoyed the main characters (minus Farsi) and thought they were so entertaining.
