I loved the bright colors in this book, which made a scary topic much more inviting. I appreciate that Bartlett explained that trauma can come from little things as well as big things, though I wish she had gone into more depth there. I love how the graphic designers used the brightly colored shapes to form mosaics of images and words. I also love the simple explanations that Bartlett used to explain what living with trauma is like.

A Kids Book About consistently puts out the best books on the market about tough and abstract topics, and this one is no exception. They handle the topics with no sugarcoating and no condescension, while still exploring the content in a safe and approachable manner. The use of basic typography and colors to convey mood and meaning work better than pictures ever could.
