This book shared interesting ideas about cesarism and how to defeat it - both of which are sadly relevant to the modern world.

But I felt it got bogged down in long historical anecdotes about past cesars. Mount makes a point early on to say he's not going through them chronologically, which is fine, but jumping around makes it hard for the reader to follow, especially when I couldn't divine a logic for inserting them where they were.

Worth reading for understanding the Boris Johnsons and Donald Trumps of our time, but be prepared to hear A LOT about the Roman Empire.
