One of the best sci-fi romance stories I’ve read this year

Yes, this is a popular trope. But it is done well. The characters are realistic and relatable. Cat is strong, independent, and smart. The Lathar start out overbearing and just mean, but they come around. I love this “world” and this book.

Alien Lord’s Captive is book one in the Warriors of the Lathar series by Mina Carter.

It’s a descent start to the Warriors of the Lathar series. It’s a quick read and the romance moves fast. The Lathar are all Alpha sexy warrior aliens. Their race has lost its females and are in need of the opposite sex.

Our heroine didn’t cower. She took the best option with the chooses presented to her. The human women showed these Lathar males that they are capable, strong, and warriors in their own right.

The romance is quick and you feel the heat between our leads. The sexy times where enjoyable. Not much world building in this first book, but I have hope that we will get more. We are also treated to a little drama in that some of the Lathar are purists.

All and all I enjoyed Alien Lord’s Captive.

I really liked this story! It had everything I want in a book: romance, action, humour and a HEA. I love it when the heroine is a badass and not a princess that needs saving. Definitely a book series that I would recommend.

Something about this just wasn’t great to me. The idea was interesting, but the execution was a bit off. Very cheesy too, which usually isn’t a bad thing but it compounded the existing issues for me.

📖 **My Thoughts**
I seesaw-ed a bit on this book. There were some bits I really liked, some I didn't. The humans were badass and I especially liked Jane. The MMC started out as a bit of a prick and I would have liked a bit more grovelling/growth from him before the relationship built. I think the next book is about Jane so I will be reading that one, unsure if I'll read more of the series after. I was not a fan of how they spoke about the other alien race/slavery mentions
