It was good. A nice summer read although not my favorite of Jennifer E. Smith's books.
I think reading this was a mistake - a little too real for me right now
I didn't think I would love this book or that it would have a great impact on me, but here I am trying to type up this review while also trying to take deep breaths so I don't cry again. I don't know exactly what I was expecting when going into this book, but it sure as hell was not what I got. I didn't expect to become SO attached to these characters, to want want them to be together SO much, and to have my heart feel like it was breaking into SO many pieces.
The whole time I was reading this book the part of me that just wants to have a book where I just want a happy love story at the end and wanted Clare to change her mind and for them to stay together. At the same time, the logical part of me who has just finished her first semester at college understood why Clare wanted what she wanted.

This was so painful to read in the best way possible.
You know these books that are just really simple but you finish reading them with this extraordinary feeling in your chest? This is one of them.
The whole story is about two kids, that were dating for 2 years and they're spending their last night together before leaving for college. They spend their night reliving their whole relationship and deciding if there's a point in staying together, since their colleges are on different sides of the country.
And yeah, the plot is pretty simple but for a change, it's not about two people getting together, but about people who already are in relationship and they're figuring out their future and I enjoyed it so much. It was a quick and very sweet read that left me in tears in the end. :))

super cute, but "later" should have been at least during sophomore year, no?
but ok. i can be ok with that, because, as always, jennifer e. smith was incredibly charming.

There is something so perfectly real and endearing about Jennifer's books. Characters so real you imagine them as friends. Relationships that are true to life. This book was no exception. I wanted this to be my experience. I wanted to live the love, friendship, adventure and possibility that Aidan and Clare shared. Reading this was like being immersed in a John Hughes film while simultaneously wrapped in cozy woollen socks, sitting next to a fire, sipping hot cocoa.
