For Full Review: Polishing Mud Balls
This story was absolutely wonderful. The main characters of Peter and Thea drew me into their lives as I was shown their world, and adventures. They both faced fears, and worries while displaying courage to do what they felt was right. They both have parents or parent-like figures who are apart of their lives AND both Peter and Thea are responsible, and respectful toward their parents.
I think boys and girls around age 10-14 would enjoy this story.
First Light is a fabulous and delightful read.

What a strange book. I was left with a lot of questions, and I'm not sure getting them answered would improve the book.

Very slow to develop and switching between the different characters/worlds was more confusing than engaging.

I think I really like Rebecca Stead! This story is exciting and engaging without being overly dramatic or traumatic. I also really liked so many of the characters including the dogs who had their own strong personalities too. The descriptions of setting are so detailed and rich sometimes I felt cold while reading this! I'm looking forward to reading more from Stead.

This started off kind of slow and confusing and weird. And quickly got pretty darn good. I think my niece would love this book. I might have to get it for her for Christmas!
