The 12th book of the series, again obviously the language is quite dated but i enjoyed the case overall

I like how Morse and Lewis' relationship has progressed throughou the series to where we finally learn Morses Christian name

Excellent book. My 'first' Morse novel. Had a very interesting mystery and had me close to tears with all the diabetes stuff. But still, has me excited for the rest of the series!

My god I thought I was pompous and pretentious!

That said I read it, but do feel TV series had much to do with that.

This is my first time reading Inspector Morse, and I loved everything about it! The writing is stellar, and Morse is an intriguing and interesting character.

This was my first go at reading Colin Dexter rather than watching the show based on his books. The show really captured the speech patterns of both Morse and Lewis, and it is so important to understanding their characters. I was worried that, being a fan of both shows, the books wouldn't deliver as well, but I needn't have worried at all. I wish there were more in ebook format!

Morse book 12 - the one where we finally learn his first name!
Nice murder mystery. Satisfying ending, short chapters, nicely written.

I don't know why I like these Inspector Morse books - he's so irritating in his dogged pursuit of his flights of fancy.
