Not gonna lie, this was a free book in the apple books app and starting off it confused me a little bit. The third pov got me confused as to who was talking to who and it took me about 130 pages to get really into it.
I did not expect to be reading a book about feminism in a way but I loved the take on this and how it was about more than a romance but also about a career and evolving.

Good Guy is the first book I've read by Kate Meader and it was a great ice hockey romance with a grumpy, ex-military hero thrown into play and an added side dish of "he's always wanted her".

Levi is an older recruit to the Rookie Rebels but proves his worth on the team with his no BS personality. Jordan finds her shot into the industry and that's through her connection with Jordan. Her deceased husband's best friend.

Good Guy has more uplifting elements to the book than I initially thought, as the connection between Levi and Jordan is sad. Jordan is the sunshine to Levi's grumpy and helps him see a brighter future without his best friend by his side and Jordan finds someone she can confide in who knew her husband as well as she did. Levi always wanted Jordan but took a step back when his best friend decided to pursue his feelings for Jordan. The tension between Levi and Jordan had been happening for years but had to be contained. Jordan's feelings are newer than Levi's as she never swayed from her husband when he was alive but she always appreciated Levi's good looks.

As their feelings start to increase the tension becomes flammable. These two have such a good connection and are both loveable characters once you get past Levi's grumpy demeanour.

I really enjoyed this book as a nice lighthearted romance    to read in between two thrillers. This grumpy-sunshine hockey romance was a good read, enjoyed the spicy scenes from a male POV especially. This book was equally funny, romantic, spicy and serious with some hard hitting topics. I did get a bit confused with all of the characters at times. Especially the players in the hockey team, trying to figure out who was who kind of got to me eventually as I felt they weren’t introduced thoroughly enough! All in all, was an enjoyable read, not obsessed but liked it enough to have some fun with it!
