I’ve also read the “sibling books” Mermaids: The Myths, Legends, Lore as well as Vampires: The Myths, Legends, Lore. And I can say that they are informative although brief they are very redundant. I dislike Skye’s writing the most of the books I’ve read in this series, I understand that they have a certain number of pages to fill, but it gets tedious. My interest in the whimsy of subject wasn’t enough to get through this. Maybe it’s intended for a younger audience or demographic seeing as it is such a light read, but the books formatting makes it very blatantly flat.

Cute little book that treats fairies as real beings.

So Finally I Finished Reading This Book. I Took Two Days To Finish This Book Which Is Really Fast Because I Usually Take A Week To Finish Reading One Book As I Love Understanding Each And Everything While Reading. Skye Alexander Has Done I Great Job. I Was Continuously Glued To The Book. The Way She Has Written This Book Is Very Interesting. She Has Mentioned The History Of Fairies, The Legends, Different Types Of Fairies In Different Countries. She Has Also Written Her Personal Experiences With The Myths And Lores. Short Stories Have Also Been Mentioned In This Book Which Makes The Book Really Cute And Amazing. Skye Alexander Has Given Some Useful Techniques Too On How To Deal With A Fairy. The Cover Of The Book Is Super Beautiful. I Read This Book Through Kindle And It Was Worth A Read.

This book Fairies (etc.) is about the basic information that you can get over Fairies and what kind and so on.
Normally I wouldn't be so interested. Yes mythical creatures are great, I'm not sure if I believe in them but let's forget that for a whole sec. I liked them in stories.
I think for me it started with The Iron King from Julie Kagawa. I mean the whole story about the Iron Fey was really interesting, after that I started to read Midsummer Night's Dream to get the Shakespeare thing about it. With Titania and Oberon and of course Puck. I finally got the reference Titania Erza from Fairy Tail. And there again was the word Fairy.
I started rewatching Earl and Fairy which is a really interesting anime and I wished they didn't stop halfway the story but this is also another matter. However thanks to the Fairy Doctor Lydia in this anime, I wanted to know more about Fairies. I wanted to know what she knew.
I wanted to know what a phouka was, brownies and so on. So this story was really interesting and although they didn't go really deep into the information part, it was interesting to also see all the fairy tales (I wanted to type tails.. great) come together and I will definitely buy Skye Alexander her book about Mermaids, once I have money again.
So this is not a book from the five years stack but that one will come soon enough.

Great little book, this helped me to gain some brief insight for some research for a fiction novel i am writing.
It is perfect as a base, and now i know where i can go and extend my knowledge or what to search for. In the back of the book is an index and some website sources for more on this subject.

Took me some time to continue this book, I've stopped after the 3rd chapter. It wasn't as in depth as I've imagined. Hence it was not really an enjoyable read to me, unfortunately.

This is a great resource for fantasy writers and faerie lovers alike. It breaks down into fairy lore on a broad level, then tells about specific countries' legends. I loved that the author wrote like she was presenting facts about fairies that are real—it was reassuring in a way. Very informative and professional, I felt like I was doing research when I was reading, not just reading a fun book about faeries. Will definitely refer to in the future.
