This book is different from what I expected from the blurb. I thought there was gonna be a big plotpoint and then everthing gets resolved, but this is not such a story. Things happen and the story keeps just bobbing along. And I think that works great with the book's themes of grief and moving on. The story goes on; sometimes sad things happen, sometimes amazing things happen and life still goes on.
I do like the characters in the book. They're all kinda weird and none of them are perfect. They're selfish and stubborn and cold, but they're also family or friends and they love each other regardless.
The relationship between Sakumi and her little brother is interesting. She's the only one in the family who really listens to him and they do have a great bond and love each other. But she also takes him to bars, let's him drink alcohol and is absolutly not concerned about him hanging out with random strangers on the streets.
With all the discussions and conversations the characters have about life, the book really made me think a lot. And even though I disagree with a lot of their thoughts, I enjoy a book that makes me think.
