This book is fascinating.

From the lore and worldbuilding to the layers of the characters, it's nigh-perfection. Even the predictability worked in its favor, because I was genuinely guessing my way through this one, with a sort of suspense to what would happen.

In a world where magic is determined and inspired by the ever cycling phases of the moon, Aldryn College only accepts the most promising of magical students. Last spring, tragedy struck as several students were lost to the strange tides of Dovermere Cove. Emory returns to Aldryn to study her magic, but with the additional motive of learning what exactly happened that fateful night and why. What she uncovers is much more than she ever expected.
As someone who loves anything to do with the moon, I was immediately enamored with the thorough magic system based off of its phases, as well as the lore behind the magic and the legends surrounding it and the ocean. I thought the journey was enticing and interesting— though a tad predictable at times. I enjoyed the main characters, though I would have loved to have seen a little more depth from some of the secondary characters. Curious Tides is a lovely meeting of dark academia and fantasy with and ending that has left me hungering for the release of book two!
Overall, I don’t think this is the most life changing or compelling book I’ve ever read, but I loved the world, magic system, and overall vibes so much that I have thought and talked about it several times since I finished it.

Had a bit of a slow start but once it picked up more I started to really like it. Also bonus points for the sick magic system

This was SO FUCKING GOOD. I’ve been craving a fantasy book that feels like this for so long. The atmosphere that is created is so dark and magical and wondrous.

I loved the multiple pov and all of the characters and I can’t wait to learn even more about them in the future books.

I think so people might feel that some of the plot was too obvious, but I felt like it was so perfectly set into place throughout the book to have the perfect level of intrigue.

This book is truly magic, just the the book the story surrounds. I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel
