This is a great, fast paced horror, thriller which feasts on deep seated fears of both the power of the mind, egotism and technological advances. After 4 very competitive writers hash things out over the years, in the same pub, one of them suggests a highly secret government advanced technology called Arcranium. A powerful virtual reality where they can pick each other off to find out who is the best writer and what tropes work best. This very quickly decends into using the deepest, darkest fears to weaken each other into submission. But there is a few things they didn't take into account!
I loved this quick horror. I felt is was mainly plot driven but the characters were fleshed out with some great deep seated fears that made you cringe. The narrative was faced paced to the end ( took me a few hrs to read ) and loved the twist in the storyline. Didn't really see that coming!

Honestly, I find multiple authors working on one story often difficult to read, the different voices clashing and painfully obvious who wrote what.... but this one, they blended together so well, I wasn't jarred out of the story at all. That takes a unique talent and I say kudos to these two amazing authors for putting together a fun adventure.
The characters were each unique, with their own reasons for chips on their shoulders, and though the story ended exactly where I thought it would, it needed to end there. All signs pointed that way and I would have been personally peeved as a reader if it had gone elsewhere. I liked how this felt both futuristic and classic all at once.
Well done, this was fun to read, and I think I need to snag a physical copy to reread later down the road.

It’s this debate that leads to a group of writers having a little “friendly competition” to see which one of them can create the best horror story. With the help of an AI program-Arcranium™️ and a safe word, what could go wrong? Everything.
What a wild ride! I had a lot of fun with this horror novella. The plot was refreshingly unique; it grabbed my attention right away and kept me engaged throughout. It was well written, which was particularly impressive having two authors. There was a good mix of atmospheric dread in eerie settings and flat out horror with plenty of gore. The dialogue was sharp, with moments of humor, and the ending was top notch.
Romance has friends-to-lovers and enemies-to-lovers tropes and that’s fine, but I’ll take a friends-to-enemies horror fest any day. Absolutely recommend this one to any horror fan.
I appreciate the copy of this ebook for my honest review.
