I was operating under the assumption that this was a standalone, but almost all of my critiques are no longer valid since learning it's a series. However, i will comment that we are only ever told how bad the guild is by dead characters, making it hard to believe they are in fact a bad organization. We don't see the guild hurt or manipulate anyone: it's all secondhand recounting. The stakes regarding the guild plotline need to be raised in book one so that people care about it in subsequent books.

I'm also interested in how dunbar handles russ's addiction, which i rarely ever see in ya, but not enough to continue the series.

Also what is charlotte's last name??? Is it north or norris or norton? And someone needed to proofread it an extra time before release.
