Above is my favorite poem in this collection along with the lines I won't soon forget. I think I'm not so much interested in rating this as I am in discussing Ocean Vuong as a modern classic. He will surely live on past me and everyone else I know. He will be read for context and subtext, and I feel so lucky to live in the same era as him.

No hubo poema que al terminar de leerlo no sintiera como un alfiler incrustado en el pecho. El poemario cubre muchos temas y sentimientos, pero lo que a mí más me llegó fue su forma de entenderse con los hombres a su alrededor, tanto con su padre como con algunos otros que despiertan erotismo o incluso romance. También me gustó mucho la sensación de intimidad que a momentos raya en lo autobiográfico. El sentir que estaba leyendo un diario me hizo conectar mucho más con sus palabras. Me encantó.

Beautiful, emotive wording and imagery. This deserves study; I want to take my favorite pieces apart and make sure I'm gleaning everything from it that I can.

I prefer this to Time is a Mother, but Vuong is definitely not my bag. Beautiful but too esoteric, almost forced for me.
