Unless you're a major, MAJOR fan of Lux, don't bother. I felt as if I were reading Obsidian, 1, all the time.

This is the same story, but written from Daemon's viewpoint. And just not worth the buy or the time to read it. In my opinion.

Oh boy, what a giant arse this boy could be. Rude, cruel, teasing and self-centered, he comes right of of the door and throws the massive muck pile at the human just for being human. All humans can't be bad right ? He has history whispering in his ear, "they're all bad, a danger to his kind" So he'll just keep up the muck tossing and that'll keep her nasty human-ness away. Too bad his sister picked the human to be her new BFF. Finally, there is the need he feels to find out more about her, it's just irritating and he can't stop himself.
Katy, the human is pissed. Why is that gorgeous guy suck an epic jerk ? His sister is so nice, and bit off but really nice. She just keeps falling into the trap of his little game with his sister. She really can't figure this family out.
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. I'm not a fan of prequels, or any back story normally. I already know what happens so lets move on. Deamon, was very interesting. He starts out very raw, damaged and attacking out, then he starts to grow a heart almost like the Grinch. It was wonderful to see him find some happiness, see his innocent mistakes and his doubts to explain his ugliness towards Katy. If you're a Deamon fan I think you'll enjoy seeing inside his complicated head.

4.5 stars. Oh Daemon, so sexy and so grumpy. :)

I will quote some stuff from my review of book 1, since that also applies to this one. I will put those in italics, and in quotes so you all know that it is from that other review.

This book is all from the POV of Daemon, a hot, but really grumpy guy who needs to get his priorities straight at times. I was really delighted that we would get a book from the POV of Mr. Hot and Cold. I read the first book some months ago, and I am still planning on reading the second one, boy, I am glad I waited. This way I read 1 and 1.5 in sequence and now I can read book 2.

A lot of the stuff that happens in this book is what happens in the first book as well (logical), but there are also several newer scenes + we can finally see what is going on in Daemon's head (something I did want to do, since he was so hot/cold). Now I know that Daemon truly thinks of Kat 99% of the time, and we also find out what he really feels about Katy (from the start, and not near the middle/end). And it is quite fun to be inside Daemon's head.

"Deamon is pretty hot, and Katy is pretty awesome (and I love the fact that she reads a lot of books, squeals when books come in, and has a book blog). There is a lot of tension between the two and while I did get annoyed, I also kind of liked the bickering between them.
(Kind of, because really guys? Do you need to bicker so much? It just felt fake and off.)

However, and this might be very unpopular opinion, I felt at times like I was reading Twilight. Deamon's constant, we are not good for you/you are not good for us/leave us alone shtick. It is practically the same thing that Edward kept hammering about in most of the first book. Add to that that she is apparently not even afraid of him or his skills. Add to that her clingy ways and her attitude around Deamon. At one time I was even wondering when someone would come in to play the role of Jacob (sadly never happened). Also as soon as they do something (you all probably know what I mean), for some reason they can't stop (see Twilight and Bella's reaction to Edward). In the end I was just laughing at a lot of the parts, shaking my head and wondering if anyone else sees it."

From a friend I heard that Jennifer L. Armentrout has also written books 2 and 3 from Daemon's point of view, but sadly that is only through digital means. While I don't mind ebooks, in this case, I just want the paperbacks/hardcovers. So I am just hoping and wishing that some publisher will bring them out (in English). I would buy them in a heartbeat. Oh well, I still got some time, since I still need to read book 2 and 3 normally, but I hope that buy the time I am done (some time next year) there will be 2 more Daemon POV paperbacks.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you loved the first book, then you will love this one.

My Review:

My gosh, I'm at a loss for words. I swear JLA will be the death of me.

I didn't realize just how much I have missed Daemon and Katy and this series as much as I did until I picked this book up. And being back in that world was absolutely worthwhile. But also being inside Daemon's head this time, alien babies everywhere, that was one hell of a fun ride!

Cocky and unbelievable arrogant, you can't help but love Daemon Black, even when he is being a giant douche. However, with Oblivion we get a major glimpse of his thoughts, his growth as a character, and his growing and conflicting emotions he experienced in the first book, and that was an eye-opener. How he viewed Katy from the first moment to when she really gets pushed into his life, that’s just wow. And he really stole my breath; he can be such a sweet guy. Daemon really is a complex, unique character and that becomes even more apparent with Oblivion.

I also loved that Oblivion isn't just a simple retelling of Obsidian either. No, it's like reading the first book for the first time. Jennifer gave us scenes that never even appeared in Obsidian that allowed me to see who Daemon was during that time, his emotions, the conflict going on within him, why he was so back and forth with Katy. It made me love him even more and understand him.

Now, I read the paperback copy first, and as soon as I was done, I got the kindle version. Which I highly recommend for lovers of this series to do. In the e-book version, JLA gives us a quick and more straightforward telling of Onyx and Opal. Though not as in-depth as Oblivion, it was still amazing to get glimpses of Daemon’s POV in those books. Which, as stated before, was a real eye-opener. Making me fall for him even more and really see and understand his character, thoughts, and feelings.

I LOVED this book. Truly. I felt that Jennifer did a great job at re-telling of Obsidian in Daemon’s POV. Lovers of this series and of Daemon Black, pick this one up!

Reliving the first book in Daemon's view was amazing. How he fought his feelings and thought he would make mistakes like his brother. Seeing how much he cared for her even when he first saw her. I like that Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote this book. I like knowing what Daemon was thinking and even though he was a jerk sometimes he wanted her the whole time but kept denying it even to himself. But Dee knew even when Daemon didn't.

I am torn when it comes to a repeat of a book but with different perspective.  I didn't love Daemon in the first book in Kat's POV but having finished the rest of the series, I now love Daemon (as well as probably everyone).  SOO that being said, having his whole, grumpy neighbour, I hate the human girl vibes going on, was not my favourite.  BUT I could brush it off because we know where this is all going.
