This is a nice collection of shorter stories from different time periods. Sweet remains one of the best comic book antiheroes ever. I can't wait for more!

it's a real shame about the art style of two of the short stories from the first part because otherwise, i would have liked this much more. putting that detail aside and, as i've said before and will say again, this series keeps getting better and better with every single installment.

I liked the anthology comics in the latter half of the book. From various authors/artists, these little comics provide glimpses of story into the greater narrative of American Vampire. As a Portland, Oregon-raised son, I appreaciated Greg Rucka (a Portlander himself) adding a wee bit of the city's actual histroy to the Skinner Sweet story.

The first part of this volume is illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque. We see our friend the Vampire Hunter take care of some business. The rest of the stories are apart of an anthology of guest illustrators. The Hollywood film location, Portland, and New York stories were great. I couldn't get into some of the other stories because of the scattered design of the illustrations.

I almost bumped this up the 3-stars on the strength of the first story, which I quite liked, even though it doesn't - as of yet - seem to tie into the larger story. I liked the couple that was introduced, and I'm curious about the kid and wonder what will become of him.
SpoilerI was bummed that the couple died at the end, though, as I was hoping they'd become part of the larger story.

The other stories were kinda meh, though. Some were interesting enough, but were pretty thin, overall, and I really didn't like the watercolor art of the one or two Western stories.

One thing I said to my husband was that one thing I'll have to do, once the series is over, is reread it all back-to-back so I can get a firmer grasp on where things fall in the timeline. I'm not good at remembering all the details from book to book, and all the time-jumping doesn't really help in that regard.

American vampire does not disappoint. I like the stories that flesh out the universe a bit more. I wish there was more info on different vamp species but still very enjoyable.

These are the lost tales in the bigger story of American Vampire--totally worth a read.

Another cracking edition to the fabulous American Vampire saga. The art is as fluid as ever with the eight tales engrossing and intimate while still expanding the American Vampire lore to the full. Great to see Kidd back and can not wait to see how things progress with the creepy kid-he's going to be very interesting.
