While better, this book was also far more disturbing. We got a few new characters, and we meet older characters.

One of them is named Dan-Dan.
Spoiler Dan-Dan is a sick, sick twisted person who kills and torments children just for fun. And I don't even want to know what his plans with B. were.
Really seriously wth. I do pray we don't see him again in the next books. *shivers*

I really despised everyone on that boat. Instead of helping people, they are doing all the stuff they did there. Really sick.

We also find out why the title is Gladiator (was already wondering about it).

Poor B., the things she witnesses, I can imagine B acts so gruffy and mean at times. Anyone would do that after all they went through in the last few books and this one.

I really did like the ending for this book, I like how B keeps growing and learning new things.

I will be sure to read the next book as well.

As I have said in other reviews,Darren Shan's "Zom-B" series is less of a series and would be better described as a YA serial novel, along the lines of Stephen King's original publication of The Green Mile. In this Chapter Zom-B Gladiator we find "B" back in the loving arms of the Angels, at least for a little while. I don't know why this girl just can't stay out of trouble. I guess if she did it would not be much of a story. That said, I felt ambivalent towards this cast of evil characters. I mean just how many sick, evil MF'ers are going to survive this zombie apocalypse Mr. Shan. Please try and come up with a new concept for your next chapter Zom-B Mission.

Gladiator was a return to an action packed book. An introduction to a new set of very interesting bad guys that will clearly play a bigger role in the entire series. If you feel like the books are becoming sluggish or uninteresting, this book will reinvigorate the love for this series.

Still a fun and reasonably enjoyable quick read, like earlier installments in the series. Ditto on the fabulous narration, which--while I'm still eager to get to the bottom of some of the hanging mysteries in this series--is probably my favorite part of these books.

'Zom-B: Gladiator' is unfortunately one of the weaker entries in the series.

There's little to no character development for B, what there is is stilted and could have been handled in a far more interesting and complicated way.

The villains have all the subtlety of a brick being thrown through a glass window. Shan took the social commentary aspect of the zombie subgenre and swings it around like a sledgehammer.

The novel isn't long enough to delve into the main set piece either, so it's over before it can really begin. Weak side characters too. Motivations were underdeveloped.

It's saving grace is a singular great scene early on where we get another peak into how B actually feels, that's when this story is at its best. I hope more is done with that idea, because this one generally didn't do much.

"A zombie can't be a hero. We're monsters."
Dr. Oystein smiles. "Then all I can say is that I wish there were more monsters like you in the world."

A great addition to the Zom-b series. I liked the recap in the beginning and another view of the few survivors still out there.

but honestly, I'm really hoping for some answer. We have more ideas, more conjecture but still NO ANSWERS.

baby, owl man, crazy clown......nothing. Just..more ideas.
I'm really hoping for a book that gives me more info soon.

I REALLYREALLYREALLYREALLYREALLY LIKED DANDAN PLEASE TELL ME HE'S IN THE LATER ONES.
Anyway. I'm only giving it a three because the ending wasn't nearly as good as the earlier ones, but I guess you have to have a few happy endings.
