I gotta stop forcing myself to slog through books I'm not enjoying. It was a good book at first then went downhill fast and got so boring. The FDA needs to worry about fully completing research than quickly trying to out drugs out on the market they know nothing about

I've read a few of Michael Palmer's medical thrillers before, and have always thoroughly enjoyed them. This was no exception. Brian Holbrook is a cardiologist - or was, before his addiction to prescription drugs (due to a knee injury from college football) caused him to self-prescribe and lose his license eighteen months earlier. But Brian gets a second chance when his father is admitted to the Boston Heart Institute, and Brian diagnoses a patient with a rare condition, saving a life.

The institute's director is impressed, and hires Brian, which allows him to get his medical license back. A new miracle drug for arteriosclerosis is being trialled at the hospital, but Brian begins to suspect all may not be as it appears.

It was a fast-paced read with lots of twists and turns. If any of it is even vaguely true, I'm greatly disturbed at the level of corruption in the medical profession!
