The weakest of the series so far. It mostly suffers because it only has a very tenuous connection to the other books in the series. It is a prequel, and trades the interesting post-apocalyptic times of the other books, for a time in our not so distant future, and or alternate universe? I'm not sure there were a couple plot points that didn't really make sense and ending up not really being important. Kinda the whole book was like that. I mean mostly the value of a prequel is that it tells you all about the storylines you like from the original. Instead it is pretty much a completely different story, but then they grew up and many many year later something that relates to the main story happened. This story was pretty good though in its own right, though not as good as the first two.

I was expecting a bit more tie in to the other "City of Embers" book but really this book can be read alone. I did enjoy reading this book but I did not feel pulled into the story.

Ugh... Que decepción...
The Prophet of Yonwood es el siguiente libro en la serie de Ember... Aunque de hecho, es una precuela. Los eventos que transcurren en este libro pasan muchos años antes de los sucesos del primer libro...
Y no son ni la mitad de interesantes.
Uno espera conocer mas de como empezó Ember, cómo pudieron pensar que una ciudad subterránea era buena idea, etc... Pero no.
En lugar de eso tenemos la historia de Nickie, una niña de 11 años que ni por asomo tiene la misma capacidad de que le tengamos empatía o que nos caiga bien a diferencia de Lina. Nickie va camino a Yonwood con su tía para reparar y vender la casa de su difunto bisabuelo. Pero ella no quiere y esta decidida a: 1. Vivir en Greenhaven (la casa), 2. Enamorarse y 3. Hacer algo bueno por el mundo.
Leí este libro a pura fuerza de voluntad, me dije a mi misma: "tienes que terminar este libro si quieres leer el siguiente. Si quieres volver con Lina y Doon"
Los personajes carecen del carisma y la personalidad de Lina, Doon y los otros personajes de los libros anteriores. Y Nickie... Ugh, no puede ser mas insoportable porque no debe ser posible. Entiendo que sea una niña pero ya a los 11 años (y con la amenaza de un conflicto mundial que hace que la gente madure algo más rápido) uno es capaz de saber cuando algo es bueno o malo... Asi que cuando decide ser la soplona que va a contar todo lo que ve a Brenda Benson porque ella quiere hacer algo bueno solo podía pensar en darle un golpe.
Realmente creo que lo que menos me gusto del libro fue esta niña. Grover no era tan malo, me recordó un poco a Doon. El fanatismo del pueblo caía en lo ridículo, y no es que no pase pero ugh... En serio... ¿No luz? ¿No canto? ¡¿No perros?! Es estúpido.
Si quieren sáltense este libro si van a leer la serie. No se pierden de nada al no leerlo.
Al final uno descubre que Nickie es quien escribió el diario que Lina y Doon encuentran cuando salen de Ember. Ya.
Si hubiesen escrito sobre ese momento, su elección de ir a Ember y su llegada seguramente habría sido mejor que esto. Ciertamente no podría ser peor.
Posiblemente tambien sea que cuando tienes durante dos libros a dos protagonistas como Lina y Doon y al siguiente no los tienes lo que logras es frustrarte y querer acabar rápido para volver con ellos.
Igual la historia no es tan buena como las anteriores.

It was a bit slow at the start but the middle through to the end made up for it! I loved the ending, it was so cool!!!

i still dont know why exactly i love this series, but it just works, not my fault. they're well written, realistic, hopeful and dystopian, what's not to like? the FMCs are always plucky brave, curious and angry girls, I love it. this was a prequel, but the whole story felt so detached i kept thibking this was a stand alone, the epilogue is the whole prequel thing that connects the books together, in a way which i kinda expected. i liked the theme of God being positive and the book's plot really felt like now, as we're fearing the WW3. still really enjoyed reading/listening to this, and will countinue with the next books. my goal is to finish them all this year inshaAllah.
