I didn't care for any of them except the male teacher. This is a series named after a Female Police Officer character, but I don't feel like she adds much to the story, and it doesn't focus on her much, which is weird.
I wasn't particularly engaged. Part of it was me not connecting with the cast, but I feel like the writing didn't reach out to me. I'm not major into detective literature or crime, but I feel like there wasn't much mystery. It was easy to guess who the murderer was, because there was only two real choices to guess from.
I also didn't feel like the narrators voice was differentiated enough and the character's own voices weren't differentiated enough, so it was difficult to figure out who spoke to who. I enjoyed listening to a book not see in America or Japan. I think I'd like to read more about Canada.

Murder in a small BC town during ski season. Characters make completely irrational decisions on almost every page.

Audiobook version boring, I quit after just a few chapters. Lacked originality - I far prefer Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Gamache series (also set in contemporary Canada).
